Ever since he arrived at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam in 2015, the versatile and energetic Brazilian saxophonist, clarinetist and flutist Lucas Figueiredo Santana (1993) has played in a huge number of bands. These were trios, quartets, quintets and big bands covering a wide variety of jazz, blues, soul and of course Brazilian music. And even the Jazz Orchestra of the Concertgebouw and the Metropole Orchestra called on him. He also stands out internationally. In 2021, for example, he won the Downbeat student prize and Lucas was asked to play a song during the concert that the Brazilian great Hermeto Pascoal gave in LantarenVenster.
