750 Years of Amsterdam | Book Launch

In honour of the 750th anniversary of our capital city, photographer Cris Toala Olivares presents an unparalleled photographic tribute to Amsterdam.

There are few cities in the world where daylight is as exceptional as in Amsterdam. Here, sunlight is reflected off the canals onto the facades, illuminating them from both above and below. The rippling water surface, stirred by the wind and boats, makes the reflected light dance on the facades. Not every visitor notices this light, but it is this dancing light that Cris Toala Olivares has captured in a special and sublime way in this new collection of his photos.

The Amsterdam Canals

In 2015, Olivares, together with Mendo, released the successful coffee table book “The Amsterdam Canals,” which quickly became a bestseller and sold out. In 2022, he presented “Living with Volcanoes,” an independent project he had worked on for over 10 years.
